Cobb Hill Receives National ABC STEP Diamond Award

Cobb Hill Construction is pleased to announce that it was awarded the National Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) Diamond Award. Cobb Hill was recognized for their outstanding safety record of 1,983 days with no lost-time at the annual Associated Builders and Contractors Safety and Scholarship Awards Banquet on June 12th, 2013.

STEP is an extensive evaluation process developed by contractors, for contractors. The STEP program provides participants with an organized approach to analyze and develop their loss prevention program, and a valuable method to measure safety programs.

Cobb Hill was evaluated on its overall safety programs, which included mandatory pre-hire/post-accident drug screening, no OSHA violations, and no lost-time accidents. Along with this, at a minimum, all of Cobb Hill’s supervisors attended the OSHA 10 hour training course in 2012. Diamond Level is the highest category awarded to construction companies with an outstanding commitment to safety, and allows Cobb Hill eligibility to enter ABC’s National Safety Excellence Award (NSEA) competition and the Construction Users Roundtable’s Construction Industry Safety Excellence (CURT/CISE) award competition.

“We are honored to be recognized with such a prestigious award,” said Jerry Kingwill, president of Cobb Hill Construction. “Cobb Hill Construction takes safety very seriously, requiring that all trade subcontractors and all members of the Cobb Hill staff implement a ‘zero tolerance’ safety policy to reduce worksite incidents.”

Cobb Hill also took home a 3rd place award for the SIC 15 50,000 – 100,000 Man-Hours category.
