Concord Monitor - Dr. Reeve's New Office

Vet's office opens (Concord Monitor 12/13/10)

Epsom is home to a brand-new veterinary clinic.

Fiona Reeve, a veterinarian at Pembroke Animal Hospital for the past four years, has started her own practice, Suncook River Veterinary Clinic, at 1569 Dover Road. The 3,470-square-foot clinic is open for business following a two-month renovation of the former Precious Angels Child Care & Enrichment Center by Concord-based Cobb Hill Construction.

Reeve said her clinic will have a focus on emerging technology through its use of digital X-rays and a paperless approach that will eventually communicate with its customers entirely by electronic means.

"I'm hoping to reach a client base that understands that that technology is useful," she said. As a result, Reeve said her goal is not to pilfer customers from other local veterinarians but to attract a wider range of clients from outside the area seeking lower costs for high-tech procedures that can often be prohibitively expensive.

"When you have someone with a sick animal, it's very hard to say, 'This and this and this is available to you,' and then have them look at you and say, 'I simply can't afford to do that for my pet,' " Reeve said.

Reeve's staff consists of two nurses, a receptionist and a groomer. Right now, there is a 5 percent discount for new walk-in customers, she said.

Reeve said she has a 2003 doctorate in veterinary medicine from Tufts University and felt it was the right time to strike out on her own. Before working at Pembroke, she said, she spent a year at Fisherville Animal Hospital in Concord.

She does not typically treat birds or reptiles, but she welcomes any and all "cute and cuddly" creatures, such as dogs, cats, hamsters, gerbils, rabbits and ferrets.
